Completed Rohloff Pugsley, originally uploaded by Ben Cooper.
With 4″ tyres, the Pugsley is built to happily trundle over snow, sand, gloopy mud, small children, and pretty much anything else you point it at. This one has a Rohloff 14-speed gear in the back, and a SON Delux front dynohub powering an 80-lux Edelux light.
Well done !
How does the chain tensioner perform with snow and ice packing up ? In winter time I have problems with the Rohloff and the standard tensioner with my full suspension and look for the most clever solution combining the Pug (not build yet) and a Rohloff. Any input welcome. Regards, Alex
I’ve never had that problem on my full-sus, but we don’t get such deep snow here. One solution would be to replace the dropouts with sliding ones so we don’t need a chain tensioner – I’ve done that to the Surly Long Haul Trucker for some people, so so reason why I couldn’t do it to a Pugsley.
