How nice this would have been with the internal gear mech (yes, it is possible with a disc brake, you need to use longer guiding tubes and in the long run it might even be more robust on a folder).
I’m not sure what you mean by an internal gear mech – do you mean the chain tensioner? The Brompton always needs the chain tensioner to stop the chain falling off when you fold the bike.

I meant the shifting mechanism. The ‘old’ version without this so called shifting box can be used with a disk. Although Rohloff does not like it (they also don’t like anything else than 32 spokes on a wheel….)
It includes more work, of course. But the outcome is actually a more robust shifting.
I’m not sure I’d agree with that – I never have problems with the clickbox, but the internal cable does sometimes need to be replaced and the gaiters wear out. Plus it needs another cable stop in a difficult place.
