Sliding dropouts so there’s no need for a chain tensioner…
Hi, my name is pedro. I’ m from spain. I have a surly lht for touring and want to use a rohloff Hub without chain tensioner and torque arm. I’m thinking about welding horizontal dropouts. Did you have any problem with torque force in the frame? I have heard about broken frames?!
Thanks a lot for your help!!!
Yes, I’ve seen problems with some track dropouts – if they’re big beefy ones you should be fine, lightweight ones aren’t a good idea.
Thanks for the answer. So, in your opinion there is no problem in welding the same dropouts as in the picture? Will it be necesary a torque arm or not? Thanks again.
If your track dropouts are as thick as the OEM dropout above, they should be fine. You won’t need a torque arm, just use the OEM1 axle plate.
Thanks a lot for your help!!
